Pluggin along

I have to start by saying that we were at Abby's indoor soccer game this morning and she did phenomenal!! She has never played indoor before, and last week was the first game for her entire team as well. Let's just say they were intimidated, but this week, a whole new team stepped out. It wasn't a blow out and Abby scored a goal!!! Seriously, she is beaming!!

Also I received an email from a dear friend Tamarynn (my sister-in-laws sister, confusing!). She has started selling some of her sewing creations on a new blog at www.sewdangcute.blogspot.com . If you are one of the several hundred ladies that I know who are expecting right now, or you are going to a baby shower for someone go and check her out! Right now she is having a give away of $25 to her store, so what are you waiting for, go over look around, enter to win and buy something cute!
On another note I have been very proud of myself these last couple of weeks. I have kept with my goal of scrapbooking at least one page a day and because of that I am all the way to August!!! I have been loving my time back in the digi scrappin world and I am in love with a few of my page creations. Can I brag like that, I think I just will!! I will however spare you all of the layouts from the last two weeks and will just share a couple of my favs.
Ok, so that was more than a couple, but I am having fun here people!!!

Freebies

For all my Digi Scrappin friends and family- you know who you are- you might be interested in a new site I found yesterday. As you know, sadly for me, IKEA Goddess gave up the freebie hunting in December (after some very colorful post, ahem...) leaving me pretty dry as to cheep download fixes. I liked that she screened them and put up direct links with clear previews so that I could look it over and easily decide what I liked without having to go to each site and investing a lot of time to decide.

Well, Christie of "Hand Picked Freebies by Digital Daisy" has picked up the slack and filled my void. She doesn't post everyday, but I don't check everyday, and she is GREAT!! I linked her up in my Favorites on the spot!

It may not be new to you, but it is to me, check it out!

Pioneer Children Sang

Last Thursday (Jan. 21) Abby's First Grade class put on their Devotional Play. They did it under the theme of "I can be a Modern Day Pioneer" All dressed up in pioneer clothes (Thanks Julie for saving me on the costuming front!), and all had parts to memorise as well as songs to sing. They did such a wonderful job and I loved seeing each of them conquer their fears while standing at the mike in front of all those people. Abby had hers memorised the day it was given, she had two speaking parts this year and she did a wonderful job. She told the story of Caroline and Mary Elizabeth Rollins saving the pages of the Doctrine and Covenants from being burned.Asher did a great job on his part as well!I am so proud of them both, they are learning so much and doing so well this year.

I can't get over how great this shot of Asher looks all vintage style!!(Jill feel free to snag any of these that you want!)

Gettin Rocked

Last weekend we got together with some friends for a night of Rocking (ie: playing rock band into the wee hours). We were instructed to dress up as rock stars or wear a rock tee from a concert you've been to. Of course we had to do it "Davis style". So I give you:

"Kurt Cobain"Yes that even included eyeliner!! However when he took off the wig he looked remarkably like lead singer Billie from Green Day!!

and the "Chipmunks"
and yes, they were so thrilled with themselves that they continued to sleep in those get-ups and wear them for three days after!!! Can you even get over Liv in those glasses!!!!

Sadly enough I only had time to get these costumes together so I went unadorned, maybe next time!

We had a fun time, thanks friends!!

Registered

After dealing with a monumental disappointment that I missed the registration for the Women of Steel Triathlon by mere hours, I decided that zero procrastination would happen on getting into the Salem Springs Tri. It is official this afternoon, I will dive into the water on June 5 at 9:00am.

I don't currently have a partner, I don't know how I feel about doing it solo, although Paul has pledged his full hearted support in the coming months and will be there cheering me on come race day. But, if anyone would like to join me there are still opening and and I would LOVE to have you join me, it is always better with a friend!!!

You can easily sign up here:

I am very excited! Last year I skipped the Tri in lieu of doing the 100 mile bike race, this year I am back to the water and I can't wait to see how it goes!

Identity Crisis

Yesterday afternoon the girls were stir crazy (Abby had the day off of school) and they needed something hands on and creative to alleviate the need to hang from the ceiling and bounce off the walls. They started asking, then begging, to make cookies. So, I said "why not!" and we set about making some cookies to decorate.

Let me pause for a moment to share with you just how monumental this occasion was for us. You see I am not that spontaneous when it comes to activities. Anyone who has gone through three children under the age of three knows that spontaneity is not a friend, but the foremost of enemies! However, with the girls now reaching the ages that we can do before mentioned kind of activities with out the certain knowledge that throwing, shaking, spreading of frosting and sprinkles throughout the kitchen and entire house would not in fact happen (it was also beneficial that I had planned on cleaning the kitchen that afternoon anyway).

So I baked and then they decorated until their little creative brains could compose no longer. We had smiles, laughter, and joy. They were lovely, pure shrines of confection, masterpieces... only I don't think the cookies knew what they were suppose to be. Were they spring time flowers and butterflies? Or were they Christmas trees, gingerbread men, and mint flavored candy canes? Such is my life, nothing that should go together gets put together, and yet it tastes divine!!

And just so that I can keep myself held accountable to my goal, here are the layouts from this week. Progress I tell you, progress!

Because I made two on one day, I will take this afternoon off and go visit my sister Hillary who is in town just for today from Missouri, I can't wait to see her and catch up!!

Resolve

I am not one to make a big deal about setting a new goal, or changing things for the better at the mark of a new year. I figure, throughout the year I have mini goals and desires that I try to complete. I set my mind to do something and I do it. Follow through is not a hard thing for me. However, this last year one of my favorite pass times has slipped and I am feeling the mounting pressure with each day that passes that I must set a formal resolution to get it done. I love to Digital Scrapbook, this is no secret. I love preserving my families stories for future generations, but with my life as it is I haven't made a page in over 4 months. I sat down this week with a new resolution to set that time aside for me once again, to have my creative outlet be a priority. I have resolved to complete one layout a day- if I miss, I will do two the next day, and so forth until I have caught myself up.

When I sat down on Monday I was a year behind, I opened my 2009 folder, looked through the pictures and made a game plan of what was important to preserve and what could just be kept in the files. So, in reality I didn't do much scrapping on Monday, but it was productive.

Tuesday I commenced with my project and it was SO hard to get back in the groove! Crazy isn't it? Just like most things in life, if you don't nurture and exercises it, you will loose it. The same goes for our artistic talents. Amid the struggles, this is what I came up with:I am not that pleased with it, I LOVED the kit but I don't know about the flow. Still, I will move forward (I am not one to redue any of my layouts, I view them as a progression of life in all aspects).

Wednesday, back in the groove!I will be attaching her piece of hair when I print it.

Thursday:
Friday: This will be printed in both Liv and Eva's books by swapping the main photo. Do I get credit for two layouts?

Today so far:
This afternoon, I will use my downtime(while Paul is off being another superhero in the Mechanical world for his friend) to make another layout. I have completely enjoyed being back into it. Why do I always default away from it?

Good luck with all of your New Year's Goals!!!

Wondrous

I came up stairs last night, into my kitchen, to start the mundane task of yet another dinner when I was surprised to find the entire room was bathing in the most beautiful shade of soft rose. I couldn't help but look out the window at what could be creating such a captivating sight. This is what I found:Beauty beyond word- so warm and inviting overlooking the barn and horses behind us, amid the tepid temperatures, glistening snow crystals and ice. For a moment time stood still and I understood why people like winter- this was truly magical. It brought peace to my heart on an otherwise gloomy day. My soul was lifted as the sun bade it's farewell with a promise to return again tomorrow.
